Sanjeev Bhargava, Managing Partner and Head of JWT Delhi, has put in his papers after a five-year stint with the agency. Highly placed sources have confirmed the development to BestMediaInfo.com. Sources privy to the development also informed that Bhargava is set to head the marketing function at Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd (BCCL), a position lying vacant after Viral Oza stepped down as Director of Marketing in May this year.
Prior to Oza, BCCL’s marketing functions were led by Executive President Rahul Kansal who moved on in January this year.
When contacted, Bhargava refused to confirm or deny the news.
It may be recalled that in August 2011 Bhargava had replaced Rohit Ohri who moved on to head Dentsu India.
With close to three decades of experience, this would be Bhargava’s first move outside advertising. After completing his MBA from FMS Delhi, he started off in Lintas Mumbai on Unilever brands and then moved to HTA Delhi to work on Nestle and had the good fortune to be in the launch team of Brand Pepsi in India. He then moved to Draft FCB where he spent about 18 years before starting his second innings with JWT. He joined FCB in 1993 as Group Manager and was promoted as Chief Operating Officer in 2003.
In his advertising career, he has managed diverse clients like Unilever, Nestle, Pepsi, HP, Compaq, Whirlpool, SC Johnson, Hero Honda, Naukri.com, Godfrey Phillips, Boeing, HCL, Frito Lay, Tropicana to name a few.
