24 channels renewed, three channels added to DD Free Dish
The 31st e-auction held on October 20 and 21 helped Doordarshan earn a revenue of Rs 129.30 crore

Twenty-four channels were renewed and three new ones added to DD Free Dish at the 31st e-auction conducted online recently. News State Uttarakhand/ Uttar Pradesh, 9X Bajao TV and Teleshop were able to get slots in the online auctioning process.
The auction was supposed to be held on October 6 but due to some technical issues it was postponed and was finally held on October 20 and 21. The deal fetched Doordarshan a total revenue of Rs 129.30 crore.
The channels will soon be available on DD Freedish within two to three days of the auctioning process. Apart from this, DD Freedish also added 24 more television channels in MPEG-4 quality. But users will have to buy iCAS-enabled authorised set-top boxes to access all 104 TV channels.
As per media reports, the bids ranged between Rs 4.3 and 5.1 crore. This is the biggest revenue earning for Doordarshan in a single auction. There are no empty slots on the platform after this e-auction.
The e-auction was held by M/s C1 India Pvt Limited, Gurgaon, on behalf of Prasar Bharati.
In the previous e-auction -- DD Freedish 30th e-auction -- three TV channels renewed its slots on DD Freedish DTH, including IBN7, WOW Cinema, Bhojpuri Cinema. The reserve price per slot on Freedish was Rs 4.3 crore (Rs 43 million). Normally, a deal is valid for a year.
Prior to that, in the 29th e-auction in August 2016, DD Freedish had added two new channels APN News and Vaa Movies. In this e-auction six channels -- Star Utsav, Zee Anmol, Rishtey TV, India 24X7, Housefull Movies and B4U Music -- renewed their slots on DD Freedish.
