Sony Pictures Networks Television India (SPN) has added another HD channel to its bouquet of offerings with the launch of Sony SAB HD. The HD channel, which will be a mirror image of the SD channel, will go live from September 5, 2016. The channel will continue to resonate the core brand promise of its standard definition channel â âAsli Mazaa SAB Ke Saath Aata Haiâ.
Speaking about the decision to venture into HD, Anooj Kapoor, Senior EVP and Business Head, SAB TV, said, âFrom a business perspective there was never a compulsion that we will need to move to HD and we wanted to venture into HD only when we had a string of exciting shows. Right now, the show slate for the next two to three months is very unique and entertaining and we are doing new things to broad-base our viewership.â
The channel that has leveraged the underdog male theme enjoys a mildly male skewed viewership. With their line-up of new shows, that have female protagonists, they are looking at bringing in more female viewers. The channel is also working with new producers to bring in new and fresh content for their channel.
The packaging of the HD version of the channel will be at its premium best and will be introduced on SD corresponding to the launch HD channel. The HD version will be available on Tata Sky, Airtel, Dish TV and on cable platforms across operators in the country.
