GEC Watch: Star Plus, Zee Anmol maintain lead in Urban and Rural markets

In Week 27 of BARC Impressions, the two non-fiction shows – Comedy Nights Live on Colors and Season 2 of Dance + on Star Plus – have gained good numbers

Star Plus remains on top in the Combined (Urban + Rural) and Urban markets in Week 27 of BARC Impressions, while Zee Anmol has strengthened its position at the top in Rural markets.

Week 27 (July 2 to July 8) has not seen much change in the ranking of channels in any of the markets. However, the two non-fiction shows have gained big in this week ended July 8. Comedy Nights Live on Colors and the second season of Dance + on Star Plus have gained good numbers in respective markets. While the comedy reality show is among the most watched in Urban as well as in U+R, Dance + has listed itself in the top shows in urban markets.

Star Plus continued to lead the pack in the combined markets (U+R) despite a marginal drop at 677.948 million Impressions against last week’s 698.563 million Impressions. Colors was a close No, 2 with 625.834 million Impressions, marginally up from 618.151 million Impressions.

Zee TV retained the third spot with 584.403 million Impressions, down from last week’s 587.573 million Impressions. Zee Anmol stood at No. 4 despite a major decline in numbers from last week’s 520.438 million Impressions to 473.813 million Impressions. It was followed by Star Utsav with 458.219 million Impressions. Sony Pal, at No. 6 gained 408.104 million Impressions while Life OK clocked 387.371 million Impressions at No. 7.

Sony Entertainment Television climbed by one position to No. 9 with 361.369 million Impressions, while Sony SAB slipped to No. 9 with 356.611 million Impressions. At No. 10 is Rishtey with 289.479 million Impressions.

Top five shows

The rankings for the top five shows have changed in the combined markets. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya still topped the chart in U+R markets with 13.494 million Impressions followed by Zee Anmol’s Jodha Akbar that gained 9.930 million Impressions. Next in ranking was Star Plus’ Yeh Hai Mohabbatein with 9.657 million Impressions. At No. 4 was Comedy Nights Live on Colors with 8.889 million Impressions, while at the end was Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai with 8.471 million Impressions.

Top Channels in Urban markets

As per BARC data for Week 27, Star Plus retained its No. 1 position despite a marginal loss of numbers clocking 459.294 million Impressions, against last week’s 466.938 million Impressions.

Colors continued to be at No. 2 with 435.791 million Impressions, an increase from 429.036 million Impressions that it gained in Week 26.

Zee TV still holds the third spot with 328.823 million Impressions (last week’s 323.472 million Impressions).

Sony SAB at No. 4 registered 257.375 million Impressions, marginally down from last week’s 265.434 million Impressions.

Sony Entertainment Television clocked 256.479 million Impressions, significantly upward of 253.259 million Impressions also climbing one spot up in the ranking list to hold its fifth position.

Life OK at No. 6 clocked 253.921 million Impressions, compared to 255.096 million Impressions in last week.

&TV too has climbed two positions up to stand at No. 7 with 121.712 million Impressions (last week 114.759 million Impressions).

Sony Pal continued at No. 8 garnering 107.125 million Impressions (last week 115.509 million Impressions).

Zee Anmol slipped to No. 9 with 104.516 million Impressions (last week 119.171 million Impressions). Star Utsav stood at No. 10 with 104.101 million Impressions (last week 104.193 million Impressions).

Top Programmes in Urban markets

As per select data {HSM (Urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 4+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya has become the most watched show of the week with 7.545 million Impressions, up from last week’s 6.622. Comedy Nights Live on Colors has entered the list of most watched shows with a bang, directly at No. 2 after gaining 7.176 million Impressions.

Star Plus’ Ye Hai Mohabbatein slipped to No. 3 with 6.518 million Impressions, against 6.643 million Impressions.

Star Plus’ new dance reality show Dance+ Season 2 has gained 5.915 million Impressions to enter the list of most watched shows in Week 27.

Colors’ Kasam too has re-entered the list after a long time garnering 5.734 million Impressions.

Top Channels in Rural markets

Zee Anmol led the pack with 369.297 million Impressions, drop from last week’s 401.267 million Impressions. 

Star Utsav is at No. 2 with 354.191 million Impressions (last week’s 364.616 million Impressions). 

Sony Pal is at No. 3 with 300.979 million Impressions (last week’s 342.335 million Impressions). 

Zee TV is at No. 4 with 255.580 million Impressions (last week’s 264.101 Impressions). 

Star Plus climbed to No. 5 with 218.654 million Impressions, rising from last week’s 231.625 million Impressions.

Rishtey slipped to No. 6 with 204.673 million Impressions, decline from last week’s 242.553 million Impressions. 

Colors is at No. 7 with 190.043 million Impressions, last week’s 189.115 million Impressions. 

Life OK stands at No. 8 with 133.450 million Impressions, up from last week’s 132.976 million Impressions. 

Big Magic, at No. 9 clocked 119.435 million Impressions (last week’s 117.184 million Impressions). 

Sony Entertainment Television, at the trailing end garnered 104.890 million Impressions, down from last week’s 108.689 million Impressions.

Top Programmes in Rural markets

As testimony to ZEEL’s loyal viewers in the rural markets, all top five shows in Week 27 are from the Zee channels. As per BARC data, {HSM (Rural): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 4+ Individuals}, Zee Anmol’s Jodha Akbar continued to lead the slot with 7.686 million Impressions (last week 7.117 million Impressions).

Zee Anmol’s Bandini is at No. 2 with 6.198 million Impressions (last week 5.668 million Impressions).

Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya is at No. 3 with 5.950 million Impressions (last week 4.875 million Impressions).

Zee Anmol’s Kasam Hai Tujhe Aa Bhi Jaa is at No. 4 with 4.191million Impressions (last week 4.037million Impressions).

Lastly, Zee TV’s Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani is at No. 5 with 3.956 million Impressions (last week 4,030 million Impressions).
