GEC Watch: Star Plus retains urban leadership; Star Utsav back at No. 1 in rural

Colors’ new fiction property Kasam has registered itself as the fifth most watched show in the urban markets

In Week 21 (May 21, 2016 – May 27, 2016) of BARC Impressions, most of the channels lost numbers, while very few gained. The urban flock showed almost the same ranking while Star Utsav came out to be the leader in the rural market.

Top Channels in Urban Markets

As per HSM Urban market {HSM (Urban): NCCS All: 4+ Individuals}, Star Plus continued to be on the top of the pack with 429608 Impressions, minor decline from last week’s 431857 Impressions.

Despite a rise in numbers, Colors remained at No. 2 with 428420 Impressions, up from last week’s 414213 Impressions.

Zee TV, at No. 3 clocked 291806 Impressions, lower than 315703 Impressions that the channel gained last week.

Life Ok stood at No. 4 with 270565 Impressions (last week 283930 Impressions).

Sony SAB continued to be at No. 5 with 240562 Impressions, down from last week’s 264192 Impressions.

Sony Entertainment Television saw a rise in numbers as it garnered 233351 Impressions, more than last week’s 216711 Impressions.

Sony Pal climbed to No. 7 with 121712 Impressions, up from last week’s 113523 Impressions in Week 20.

&TV slipped to No. 8 got 109531 Impressions, down from 127052 Impressions of Week 20.

Star Utsav climbed one position to reach No. 9 with 108359 Impressions, more than 94964 Impressions that it got last week.

Zee Anmol trailed at No. 10 with 91176 Impressions, falling from last week’s 98875.

Top Programmes in Urban Markets

As per select data {HSM (Urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 4+ Individuals}, Colors’ Naagin remained the most viewed programme in urban markets despite a drop in numbers as it garnered 8919 Impressions (last week 9732 Impressions).

Star Plus’ Ye Hai Mohabbatein is at No. 2 with 6805 Impressions (last week 7456 Impressions).

Star Plus’ Saath Nibhaana Saathiya came up by a position to No. 3 with 6128 Impressions, despite a drop from last week’s 6252 Impressions.

Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya is at No. 4 with 5676 Impressions (last week 6960 Impressions).

Colors’ new fiction show Kasam made an entry to the top five with 5229 Impressions.


Top Channels in Rural Markets

In the third week of data from rural Hindi speaking markets, Star Utsav replaced Sony Pal to lead the flock. As per {HSM (Rural): NCCS All: 4+ Individuals} data, Star Utsav climbed to the top spot with 369244 Impressions, marginally up from last week’s 364512 Impressions.

Sony Pal stood second with 344698 Impressions, significant drop from last week’s 382703 Impressions.

Zee Anmol, at No. 3 got 320136 Impressions (last week 352241 Impressions).

Zee TV stood at No. 4 with 232232 IMpressions, lower than last week’s 267343 Impressions.

Viacom18’s FTA Rishtey continues to be at No. 5 with 228257 Impressions, down from last week’s 261310 Impressions.

Star Plus has climbed on spot up at No. 6 in the rural markets with 219739 Impressions, compared to last week’s 215485.

Colors slipped to No. 7 with 216100 Impressions (last week 221685 Impressions).

Big Magic, at No. 8 got 157418 Impressions (last week 157675 Impressions).

Life Ok slipped to No. 9 with 154986 Impressions, last week’s 160105 Impressions.

Sony SAB at the trailing end garnered 104568 Impressions, (last week 107724 Impressions).

Top Programmes in Rural Markets

As per BARC India {HSM (Rural): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 4+ Individuals}, despite a drop in viewership, Zee Anmol’s Jodha Akbar stood at No. 1 with 5631 Impressions, last week’s 5869 Impressions.

Star Utsav’s Saath Nibhaana Saathiya is at No. 2 with 5376 Impressions (last week 5659 Impressions).

Colors’ Naagin is at No. 3 with 4979 Impressions, a decline from last week’s 5531 Impressions.

Star Utsav’s Diya Aur Baati Hum got 4734 Impressions, while Zee Anmol’s Bandini at No. 5 got 4325 Impressions in week 21.
