GEC Watch: Star Plus is back at No. 1 in U+R and Urban, Star Utsav holds Rural lead

Star Plus’ ‘Ye Hai Mohabbatein’ topped the chart while Colors’ ‘Kavach’ slipped to number four in combined viewership data for U+R markets

The Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) continue to shuffle their positions every week. What was interesting in Week 25 of BARC was that Star Plus’ ‘Ye Hai Mohabbatein’ topped the chart while Colors’ ‘Kavach’ slipped to number four in combined viewership data for U+R markets.

In Week 25 (June 18 to June 24) of 2016, according to the viewership data released for the combined markets (U+R), Star Plus led the pack with 669152 Impressions, followed by Colors with 630167 Impressions (it must be noted that all Impressions are in 000’s).

Zee TV maintains third spot with 590000 Impressions. Star Utsav is at No. 4 with 456178 Impressions. Sony Pal rose to No. 5 with 451390 Impressions while Zee Anmol slipped to No. 6 with 445267 Impressions. It was followed by Life Ok with 411292 Impressions.

Sony Entertainment Television is at No. 8 in the U+R markets with 357481 Impressions. Sony SAB is at No. 9 with 343824 Impressions. Lastly, we have Rishtey with 332770 Impressions.

For the top five programmes in U+R markets, Star Plus’ Yeh Hai Mohabbatein topped the chart with 10981 Impressions. Followed by that was Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya with 10480 Impressions. Star Plus’ Saath Nibhaana Saathiya is at No. 3 with 10140 Impressions. It seems that Colors’ Kavach couldn’t sustain eyeballs for more than a week as it slipped to No. 4 with 8704 Impressions. Lastly, we have Zee Anmol’s Jodha Akbar with 8215 Impressions.

Top Channels in Urban Markets

Star Plus took lead this week with 448071 Impressions (last week 438480 Impressions).

Colors slipped to No. 2 with 430375 Impressions, a drop from last week’s 447336 Impressions.

Zee TV is glued at No. 3 with 321132 Impressions (last week 295443 Impressions).

Life Ok is at No. 4 with 267413 Impressions (last week 269294 Impressions)

Sony Entertainment Television rose to No. 5 with 251282 Impressions, a decline from last week’s 254529 Impressions.

Sony SAB slipped to No. 6 with 241373 Impressions, a decline from last week’s 259711 Impressions.

&TV climbed the ladder to No. 7 with 116816 Impressions, up from last week’s 114365 Impressions. Sony Pal also rose to No. 8 with 109461 Impressions (last week 108769 Impressions).

Zee Anmol is at No. 9 with 105410 Impressions (last week 102389 Impressions).

Lastly, we have Star Utsav with 103149 Impressions, a decline from last week’s 116736 Impressions.

Top Programmes in Urban Market

As per select data {HSM (Urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 4+ Individuals}, Star Plus’ Ye Hai Mohabbatein led the list with 7148 Impressions (last week 7021 Impressions).

Star Plus’ Saath Nibhaana Saathiya is at No. 2 with 6471 Impressions (last week 5980 Impressions).

Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya is at No. 3 with 5873 Impressions.

Colors’ Kavach is at No. 4 with 5638 Impressions, a decline from last week’s 7114 Impressions.

Lastly, we have Colors’ Kasam with 5212 Impressions.

Top Channels in Rural Markets

Star Utsav continues to lead with 353029 Impressions (last week 403758 Impressions).

Sony Pal rose to No. 2 with 341930 Impressions, a rise from last week’s 336981 Impressions.

Zee Anmol slipped to No. 3 with 339857 Impressions, a decline from last week’s 355599 Impressions.

Zee TV is at No. 4 with 268868 Impressions (last week 233794 Impressions).

Rishtey stood at No. 5 with 252319 Impressions, a decline from 262267 Impressions last week.

Star Plus rose to No. 6 with 221081 Impressions (last week 202924 Impressions).

Colors slipped to No. 7 with 199792 Impressions, a decline from 217181 Impressions last week.

Zee Anmol’s Bandini is at No. 2 with 5419 Impressions, a rise from last week’s 5308 Impressions.

Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya is at No. 3 with 4607 Impressions (last week 3783 Impressions).

Star Utsav’s Saath Nibhaana Saathiya is at No. 4 with 4259 Impressions (last week 4244 Impressions)

Lastly, we have Zee TV’s Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani making it to the list with 4023 Impressions.
