Swain moves from OMD, where he was the Digital and Emerging Media lead for operations across India and South Asia

Neo@Ogilvy India has appointed Biraja Swain Chief Growth and Innovation Officer.Swain has more than fifteen yearsâ€™ of expertise in the digital media and was the Digital and Emerging Media lead for OMDâ€™s operations across India and South Asia, prior to his present role.

Apart from leading the Neo Center of Excellence, Swain will also drive growth and build capability in the mobile space and lead innovation for Ogilvyâ€™s current businesses. Swain is well known for his penchant for innovation, especially in the field of mobile.
He has to his credit acclaimed awards like Cannes and FOMA. As a founding member of OMG and PhD, he created one of South Asiaâ€™s largest digital agency networks from scratch, scaling to a team strength of over 250 people with the largest digital advertiser in India (Unilever) on board during his tenure. Under Swainâ€™s leadership Unilever was awarded â€śDigital Marketer of the yearâ€ť and â€śMobile Marketer of the Yearâ€ť, for three consecutive years across India and APAC respectively.
In his previous role, Swain was National Director at MEC Interaction (Mediaedge: CIA), where he led the â€śDigital Strategyâ€ť for clients like Citi, Beiersdorf, Singapore Airlines and Sony Ericsson. His experience includes work at some of the best technology and media setups in India, including Baazee/Ebay India and Smile Technologies/Quasar. He also has extensive experience of working in international markets in West Asia and Africa, during his previous stints, when he was based out of Dubai.
Today Swain is a well-recognized member of the digital and advertising community in India, and an active contributor to the knowledge base of this industry. A little known aspect of Swain is that he is a Lalit Kala Academy felicitated artist and painter. This part of his life goes back to his pre-teen years and continues to be a hobby to this day. He also has a four-year degree in Indian percussion (tabla). He is a firm believer in the power of the Xbox and the â€śGreenâ€ť movement. He is an avid blogger and lives in the heart of Bangalore with his wife, son and a golden retriever.
