Star Network’s content captured the public's imagination in 2015, going by Internet giant Google's annual list of most-searched terms and trends that shows 7 out of the Top 10 trending searches were part of Star's assets or content portfolio. Hotstar powered 7 out of the Top 10 trending searches on Google in 2015?.  Hotstar and Star Sports are the only two brands to make the list

Google's list serves as testimony to the accent on marquee quality of content and the sheer reach and appeal of Star, especially among young Indians who are driving the search traffic on internet.

Star's platform hotstar had 7 of the top 10 trends feature on its platform.  Two of Star Network's brands hotstar and starsports were the only two brands to make the list.

The Top 10 searches trending on Google in India during 2015 were:

  1. ICC Cricket World Cup 2015

  1. Bahubali

  1. Bajrangi Bhaijaan

  1. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

While the top 5 of this list is content that played or will soon be played (Prem Ratan Dhan Payo) exclusively on Star's network including Hotstar, the last two brands are part of the Star Network owned by Star, underlining the truly compelling content for all of India in 2015.

Hotstar itself has set new benchmarks since its launch in February. With its “original or exclusive” content such as series like On Air with AIB and M Bole Toh, the online platform has grown in popularity and clocked over 35 million downloads in a short span of time.

Uday Shankar, CEO, Star India, said, “Stories matter. We have long held the belief that content shapes the mind space and cultural bloodstream of a nation. This belief is validated seeing that our content is shaping and defining the majority of trending searches in India. What's gratifying also is to see two of our brands Hotstar and Starsports as the only two brands that feature on the list.”
