GEC Watch - Zee Anmol rises to No. 2; DD National enters Top 5
Zee Anmol overtook Colors to claim the second spot with gross viewership of 652 million in Week 42. Comedy Central rose to the top spot among the English entertainment channels

The integration of rural data in Week 41 of BARC ratings had thrown up major surprises with free-to-air channels like Zee Anmol and Star Utsav giving their network's flagship Hindi GECs a run for their money. Zee Anmol, which was placed third last week, has overtaken Colors to take the No. 2 spot in Week 42 (October 17- 23) of BARC ratings.
As per select data {HSM : NCCS All : Individuals : BARC India base - All India (U+R)}, Star Plus continued to lead the Hindi GECs with gross viewership of 735 million in Week 42, witnessing a dip in viewership compared to gross viewership of 804 million last week.
Zee Anmol, on the other hand, garnered gross viewership of 652 million in Week 42, as against gross viewership of 609 million in the previous week.
Colors (last week 709 million) slipped to the third spot with gross viewership of 651 million.
Zee TV held on to its fourth spot with gross viewership of 595 million in Week 42.
DD National was a big gainer during Week 42 as it climbed to the fifth spot with gross viewership of 523 million. The national channel was at No. 7 last week with gross viewership of 382 million.
Life OK continued to be placed sixth with gross viewership of 496 million in Week 42.
Star Utsav, which was placed fifth last week with gross viewership of 501 million, slipped to the seventh spot in Week 42 with gross viewership of 474 million.
There was no change in the 8th, 9th and 10th places as Sony Entertainment Television, SAB TV, and Rishtey held on to their spots with gross viewerships of 348 million, 327 million and 267 million, respectively.
Top 5 programmes on Hindi GECs
As per select data (HSM : NCCS All : Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hrs) : Individuals : BARC India base - All India (U+R), Zee TV's 'Kumkum Bhagya' regained the top spot with a viewership of 13,674 (rating in sum of 000s).
Star Plus' 'Saath Nibhaana Sathiya' wasn't far behind in second place with a viewership of 13,632 (rating in sum of 000s).
Colors' show 'Sasural Simar Ka' was placed third with a viewership of 11,415 (rating in sum of 000s).
Star Plus' show 'Ye Hai Mohabattein' was placed fourth with a viewership of 11,354 (rating in sum of 000s).
'Diya Aur Baati Hum', another Star Plus show, which topped the table last week, came fifth in Week 42 with a viewership of 10,758 (rating in sum of 000s).
English GECS
Meanwhile, in the English Entertainment genre, the tables turned as Zee Café lost its top spot to Comedy Central(v).
As per select data {6 Mega Cities : NCCS AB : Individuals : BARC India base - All India (U+R)}, Comedy Central(v) rose to the top spot with a viewership of 195 (rating in sum of 000s).
AXN held on to its second spot with a viewership of 144 (rating in sum of 000s).
Zee Café (last week 103 TVT) gained in ratings, but slipped to the third spot with a viewership of 124 (rating in sum of 000s).
Star World returned to the top five taking the fourth spot with a viewership of 94 (rating in sum of 000s).
Colors Infinity SD slipped to the fifth spot with a viewership of 70 (rating in sum of 000s).
