Star Jalsha has been occupying the top spot in the Bengali general entertainment space for some time now. The channel is also witnessing success in non-fiction content with three of its Sunday weekly properties steadily climbing up the ratings charts. In a bid to further firm its foothold in the non-fiction space, Star Jalsha is gearing up to launch 'Amra Na Ora', the Bengali version of British game show 'Push The Button'. The show will be produced by FreemantleMedia.

As per the BARC data provided by Star Jalsha, three of its non-fiction shows – cookery show 'Ebar Jalsha Rannaghare', celebrity game show 'Bhyabachaka' and comedy show 'I Laugh U 3' – have been securing more TVRs than non-fiction shows like 'Rannaghar', 'Didi No.1 and 'Detective 2015', all airing on Zee Bangla.

'Ebar Jasha Rannaghare' topped the Bengali non-fiction fiction shows with 6.7 TVR, whereas 'Rannaghar', a daily show airing at 5.00 pm, posted a TVR of 3.8. (Source: BARC – Week 31- CS F 15+ NCCS A, B, C) Star Jalsha will be airing one-hour episodes of 'Ebar Jasha Rannaghare' during the coming festive season.

On the other hand, 'Rannaghar' airs Monday to Saturday at 5 pm, 'Didi No. 1' also airs Monday to Saturday at 5.30 pm, while 'Detective 2015' airs on Thursday to Saturday at 10 pm.

An official spokesperson of Star India stated, “It has been our constant endeavour to provide wholesome and differentiated entertainment for the entire family. We were always dominating the fiction space and now with the new non-fiction shows we have just made our offering even more varied and entertaining. The results are encouraging to say the least.”

“The successful non-fiction shows along with the extended fictions have made Jalsha a new destination for viewers on Sundays. Our recent success in non-fiction has made us even more committed to it and we have decided to come up with an array of new non-fictions that I am sure will go on to create new benchmarks in the Bengali general entertainment space,” the spokesperson added.
