Celebrating the first anniversary of India's Mangalyaan (Mars Orbiter Mission) successfully entering the Mars orbit – a historic mission that made the world take notice of India's space research capabilities – National Geographic Channel is set to premiere an exclusive one-hour special documentary on this Mission. Nat Geo has made this special documentary with the cooperation of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), who conceptualised and executed this mission to Mars.

The special, 'Mangalyaan: India's Mission to Mars', will not only cover the inception and journey of the mission, but also deconstruct and simplify the science behind this mission.

The special will premiere on November 5, 2015 at 10 pm on National Geographic Channel.

Speaking on the documentary, Swati Mohan, Business Head, Fox International Channels (India), said, “Nat Geo is proud to be associated with ISRO in celebrating the first anniversary of Mars Orbiter Mission. Nat Geo has been the frontrunner in showcasing such landmark events in space exploration. In the recent past we have covered the Rosetta probe landing on a comet, and the New Horizons flyby of Pluto (Mission Pluto). 'Mangalyaan: India's Mission to Mars' further underlines our focus on original productions in India. It is also our salute to India's capability to successfully realise such global feats. To showcase the scale of this mission, our special episode will feature the subject experts who will not only explain the nuances behind this delicate technology, but also demonstrate the subtle nature of this inter planetary mission.”

Mars Orbiter Mission or Mangalyaan, India's first interplanetary mission was launched on November 5, 2013 by ISRO and entered the Martian orbit on September 24, 2014. Nat Geo captures this journey of over 650 million km through live action visuals, graphic representations and expert interviews. The documentary will also focus on the salient features of the mission, along with the milestones accomplished by the team behind it.
