GEC Watch: Star Plus regains top spot; Colors Infinity crosses 100 TVT mark

After losing the top spot last week, Star Plus is back at the top of the Hindi GEC table in Week 35 of BARC ratings (August 29 – September 4 ), albeit with a slender lead over strong rival Colors.
According to select data (HSM: NCCS All: Individuals: C&S 1Lac+) for Week 35, Star Plus regained the top spot with a gross viewership of 355 million.
Colors, which had grabbed the top slot in Week 34, slipped to No. 2 with a gross viewership of 354 million.
Zee TV continued to remain at third spot with a gross viewership of 252 million.
Life Ok saw its viewership drop below the 200-million mark, but it held the No. 4 spot with a gross viewership of 196 million.
Sony SAB stayed at No. 2 with a gross viewership of 187 million.
Top shows
Zee TV's Kumkum Bhagya continued to be the top show with a rating of 6922 (in sums of 000s).
Colors show Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi rose to second spot with a rating of 5742 (in sums of 000s). While two other Colors show, Sasural Simar Ka and Swarigini, took the third and fifth spots with a rating of 5557 and 5513 (in sums of 000s), respectively.
Star Plus had just one show, Saat Nibhana Saathiya,that came fourth with a rating of 5552 (in sums of 000s).
English Entertainment
The English entertainment genre saw no change in hierarchy with Zee Café extending its lead at the top by near 50 TVTs. According to select data (6 Mega Cities: NCCS AB: Individuals: C&S 1Lac+) for English entertainment, Zee Café topped the table again with a rating of 296 (in sums of 000s).
AXN held on to its second spot but was facing a strong challenge from new player Colors Infinity.
Week 35 of BARC ratings saw AXN garner a rating of 105 (in sums of 000s), just a one point ahead of Colors Infinity. The English entertainment channel from the Viacom18 stable has crossed the 100 TVT mark in less than two months since its launch.
