Veteran television journalist Shailesh Kumar will be heading a new national Hindi news channel, News World India, to be launched by F7 Broadcast Pvt Ltd, a media company which is involved in motion picture, radio, television and other entertainment activities.

Kumar, who has over three decades of work experience in print and television including Navbharat Times, AajTak, Zee News, Discovery, Total TV and News Nation, last worked with Focus TV from where he resigned in April this year as Managing Editor, heading regional channels Focus NE, Focus Haryana, Focus Bangla, Focus Oriya and Focus Hi-Fi.

Kumar has denied that he has replaced Sanjeev Srivastava, who resigned as Group Editor & CEO of Focus TV, as reported earlier in a section of the media.

“It's incorrect that I have joined Focus TV as Group Editor and CEO. I have nothing to do with Focus TV or Positiv TV. To put things in the right perspective, I have joined as Editor-in-Chief and CEO to head News World India, an upcoming national Hindi news channel from F7 Broadcast Pvt Ltd,” he told BestMediaInfo.com.

According to Kumar, F7 Broadcast had been providing content to television channels, including Focus TV channels. “From September 30, we will be stopping this operation and instead launching our television channel, News World India. This shift will be on the lines of NDTV, which used to supply content to Star News and later they launched their own news channels,” he said.

Here, it may be mentioned that in January this year, F7 Broadcast had tied up with Harmonic, a global leader in video delivery infrastructure, to expand its digital satellite news gathering for live events and news coverage by optimising video quality and increasing bandwidth efficiency.

Talking about News World India, Kumar said that this would be India's first people's channel that would focus on news that touched the day-to-day life of the masses. “The exact format of this channel will be finalised in a fortnight's time and the channel will be launched in a month. The news gathering and programme production team of F7 Broadcast is already in place and few more persons could be recruited to strengthen the team. The channel operation will be carried out from T-Series Studios in Noida from where F7 Broadcast's operation is currently carried out,” informed Kumar.

He further informed that News World India would be followed by an Oriya news channel that would be launched by October this year.
