Zee TV was the only Hindi GEC in the top 5 list to gain viewers in Week 33. Colors Infinity HD jumped to No. 3 spot among English entertainment channels in less than a month since its launch

Week 33 of BARC ratings (August 15-21) saw some shake-up in the Hindi GEC as well as English entertainment space. While Star Plus remained the top channel, it lost over 20 million viewership, while Colors Infinity rose to No. 3 position in the English entertainment segment in less than a month since its launch.
According to select data (HSM : NCCS All : Individuals : BARC India base - C&S 1Lac+) for Week 33 (August 15-21), Star Plus maintained its top position with a gross viewership of 387 million, a drop of over 20 million viewership from last week (409 million).
Colors at No 2 also lost 2 million viewership from last week as it garnered a gross viewership of 365 million in Week 33 of BARC ratings.
Zee TV was the only GEC among the top five to gain around 20 million viewership as it garnered gross viewership of 275 million this week.
Life OK remained in fourth position with gross viewership of 227 million, while SAB TV fetched gross viewership of 191 million.
There was a change in order of the top 5 shows on Hindi GECs. Zee TV’s ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ reclaimed the top spot with 7.4 TVT, taking over from Star Plus’ premier show ‘Saath Nibhana Saathiya’, which slipped to the fourth spot with 5.4 TVT.
Two shows from Colors – ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ and ‘Udaan’ – occupied the second and third spots with 6 TVT and 5.5 TVT, respectively. ‘Udaan’ was the new addition in the top 5 shows’ list. On August 15, Colors had aired a special episode of ‘Udaan’, which saw actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui hoisting the Tri-colour.
‘Swaragini’, another show on Colors, rounded off the top 5 shows with 5.3 TVT.
Meanwhile, English entertainment segment saw a surprise entrant in the top 3 list, with Colors’ newly-launched English GEC – Colors Infinity HD – jumping to the third sport with 91 TVT. Colors Infinity’s SD feed fetched 70 TVT. Colors Infinity and its HD channel were launched on July 31, 2015.
According to select data (6 Mega Cities : NCCS AB : Week 33: Individuals : BARC India base - C&S 1Lac+), Zee Café topped the charts again with 374 TVT, a gain of over 250 TVT from last week. Star World, too, saw a gain of over 50 TVT from last week as it rose to the second spot with 156 TVT. Colors Infinity’s entry into the top three saw AXN dropping out of the list.
