TimesJobs-LogoFilm-based learning is increasingly emerging as the fastest and most effective method of training and instruction. Intellectual and emotional engagement with the subject and content enables concepts to be thoroughly absorbed and internalised by the trainee.

StepAhead, the career services arm of TimesJobs, has partnered with Knowlens, a leader in film-based learning, to offer this training system that combines film story-telling, dramatic scenarios, interactive features and the 'learning at your own pace and time' nature of the Internet to provide emotionally impactful learning not matched by other training methodologies.

“Films as a medium leave a powerful impact on viewers. This programme combines the interactivity of the web and the emotional connect of cinema to create an unmatched learning experience. This cinematic form of experiential learning is both intellectually and emotionally engaging, thus driving deeper value for our users,” said Amit Raghuvanshi, Product Head, TimesJobs-StepAhead.

Rahul Majumdar, Co-Founder & Director, Knowlens, added here, “This is the first time such a course is being offered. We believe these film-based training courses, drawing material from real life experiences, will engage the viewer in substantially more powerful ways – making the learning deeper and more insightful.”

Birth-of-a-Salesman'The Birth of a Salesman' is the first cinematic training course launched in this series. As a dramatic film-based sales training programme, it instils core problem-solving and relationship building skills with a refreshingly innovative approach.

The course uses the cinematic journey of 'Abhay', a new entrant into sales, and shows how he evolves in his sales journey through a series of sales calls with different kinds of customers. The film follows Abhay as he absorbs the cultural nuances and atmosphere of his organisation.

'The Birth of a Salesman' film takes the viewer through 10 acts or chapters that serve as the training modules. Each module is followed by an expert analysis for developing meaningful insights from the film. There are periodic interactive tests, evaluation exercises, quizzes and ratings for analysing and measuring progress; and a forum to upload one's own practice videos, which are evaluated by peers. A certificate of completion is provided to all candidates who successfully complete the course.
