Star India launches Star Movies Select HD from today

Launched with the proposition of '365 days, 365 stories', the new English movie channel's line-up includes over 30 premieres in the year as also movies unreleased in India

Star India has expanded its English movie channel offering with the launch of Star Movies Select HD, which goes live from July 9, 2015. The insight for this channel comes from an extensive consumer research that highlights how people yearn for variety, great stories and movies that go beyond the action and superhero blockbusters.

The development comes close on the heels of the rebranding of Times Network's HD-only movie channel, MN+, earlier this month.

Star Movies Select HD has been launched with the proposition of '365 days, 365 stories'. Every day of the year at 9 pm the channel will air a great story. The channel has signed exclusive first output deals with three Hollywood studios – 21st Century Fox, NBC Universal and Disney.

The channel will hold the television premieres of award-winning movies like 'Gone Girl', 'Fault in our Stars', 'The Grand Budapest Hotel', 'Boyhood', 'Theory of Everything', and 'Birdman', to name a few. The line-up includes over 30 premieres in the year, seven out of 10 Oscar winning premieres, movies that stood out at the Golden Globes and more. The premieres and the 9 pm movies will not be screened on any of the other channels.

To keep this experience exclusive, the channel will be available only in High Definition (HD).
