Red FM got respite from the Delhi High Court, which allowed the FM player to take part in the mock auctions for the third phase of FM auctions being held on July 22 and 23, 2015.
As is known, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) had rejected security clearance to Red FM due to the pending investigations and allegations against Kalanithi and Dayanidhi Maran, which made the FM player ineligible to participate in the e-auctions for FM Phase III.
As per media reports, the Delhi High Court on July 21 had asked the MIB to either defer auctions or let Red FM take part in the auction.
Following the court's decision, Red FM in an official statement issued said, “The Delhi High Court's decision to allow Red FM to participate in mock auctions and take cognizance of our pleas to allow us to participate in the mock auctions has strengthened our belief in the judicial system.”
The statement further added, “We have always maintained that our business is a professionally managed entity and it's unfair to penalise a well-run, successful business and its employees. We also strongly believe that not allowing us to participate the Phase III auctions is an attack on media freedom.”
The next date of hearing in court has been scheduled on Friday, July 24, 2015.
