In 1934, a massive temblor rocked the landlocked Himalayan nation, which killed 8,500 people. Eight decades from then, the Nepal earthquake has hit the region again claiming more than 8,500 lives. Continuing Nat Geo's focus on award-winning investigative story-telling and decoding some of the world's biggest mega disasters for our viewers, National Geographic Channel premieres 'Trapped in Nepal' on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 9 pm.

Featuring first-hand accounts from real survivors, user-generated footage from several teams on-ground in Nepal, this hour-long special is directed by award-winning producer/director Dick Bower. The documentary will use world-class CGI to illustrate the anatomy of an earthquake and will showcase the latest findings from the world's leading geologists to establish what can be done to identify when and where the next earthquake might strike.
