GEC Watch: ‘Colors’ sustains SD ratings; tops HD ratings

Star Plus, Life OK, Zee TV, Sony and SAB TV witness sharp decline in viewership in Week 18 of BARC ratings

All the major Hindi entertainment channels except ‘Colors’ witnessed sharp decline in their viewership in BARC India’s Week 18 data.

According to the select data publicly available on BARC India’s website for Week 18 (May 2 – May 8) for HSM, 1L+ HHs, Rat {000}, Star Plus continued to be at the top despite a decline in its viewership. Colors held its ratings and No. 2 position. Life OK retained its No. 3 position but its viewership fell sharply in the current week. Zee TV and SAB TV also suffered sharp decline in their ratings.

Star Plus witnessed decline in its viewership in Week 18 and recorded a gross rating of 172 million.

At No. 2, Colors’ viewership was stable as the channel recorded a gross rating of 143 million.

Life OK fell sharply despite holding No. 3 position. The channel was at 114 million gross rating.

Zee TV too witnessed sharp decline this week and dropped to a gross ratings of 106 million.

At No. 5 was SAB TV which also lost major chunk of its viewership compared to last week. The channel recorded a gross rating of 67 million.

Among HD channels, Colors returned to the No. 1 position followed by Zee TV and Star Plus at No. 2. Sony and Life OK were at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. has sourced the data for HD channels and SD channels from subscribers in GRPs. However, because of BARC’s diktat that GRP data cannot be published, we are not publishing the actual figures.
