Sony Aath launches kids' animation series 'Gopal Bhar' in 'Sunday Funday'

A two-hour weekly slot starting March 8 at 10.30 am will showcase five legendary stories of Gopal Bhar

Bengali entertainment channel Sony Aath presents for the first time, a kids' animation slot with the launch of 'Sunday Funday'. The first series to be launched in this slot is 'Gopal Bhar', a popular character and franchise amongst kids in Bengal. This show will premiere on Sunday, March 8 at 10.30 am. A two-hour weekly slot on Sunday will showcase five legendary stories of Gopal Bhar.

Gopal Bhar was a legendary court jester in medieval Bengal. He was in the court of Raja Krishnachandra, King of Nadia in the 18th century. Such was the genius of Gopal that the King considered him as a Navaratna of his court. His statue can still be seen in the palace of Raja Krishnachandra. Stories about his exploits are narrated in Bengal to this day and are immortalised in countless short stories. The stories are short, beautiful, and humorous and have a specific social message. Gopal Bhar is famous for stories of his wisdom, in which he outwits other fellow courtiers.
