Jaideep Shergill, former CEO, MSL Group, and Sunil Gautam, MSL Group India Founder and Chairman Emeritus, have joined hands again to launch a new-age strategic consulting firm named PitchFork Partners, in January 2015.
Shergill, Co-founder of PitchFork Partners, said, “Our main area of expertise will be strategy consulting, aggregation and disintermediation and start-up consulting. We are not an agency, but will be doing a lot of high value strategic work at the top of the value chain. We will help our clients build their own ecosystem; so we will do everything other than implementation. We can't disclose the details of the clients, but yes, many have expressed interest and we will soon be locking deals.”
Just like there are three sides to every story, there are also three forks of PitchFork: mischievous, magical and mysterious. It would like to be the truth in the strategic communication and consulting space “which is full of jargon, clutter and bullshit”. The three reasons why one should choose PitchFork over other consulting firms are that they partner, advice, mentor and consult; they get to the problem and deliver a solution; and they are solution-agnostic and partner-agnostic. The company also takes great pride in telling the truth, even though it might be brutal.
At MSL Group, Shergill was a key member of the Asia Leadership team and a member of the India Board. He has over 18 years of experience in the banking and communications sectors.
Sunil Gautam is widely regarded as a serial entrepreneur in the communications space. A Chartered Accountant by qualification, he has been in the communications field for 35 years. He co-founded Clea Advertising & Marketing, which went on to become India's seventh largest advertising firm by the mid-90s. Clea built a strong reputation as a financial communication and IPO specialist firm.
In 1999, Gautam founded Hanmer & Partners, a full-service integrated communications firm, which later got rebranded to Hanmer MSL and then MSL Group when it was taken over by Publicis Groupe in 2007. He moved into an emeritus role at the start of 2011 after seeing the firm through the integration with Publicis Groupe.
