Sunil Punjabi has quit Multi Screen Media (MSM) as Business Head of AXN. He spent more than two years at MSM. Yesterday was Punjabi's last working day. His next destination could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report.
At Sony Pictures Entertainment, between 2012 and 2014, he was involved in setting up of AXN India operations, developing strategy to invest in India by launching more AXN boutique channels like AXN HD, AXN Movies, Sony Bee TV, Sony One, Animax and others.
Before joining AXN, from 2010 to 2012, he served as the CEO of Cinemax India. Prior to that, he worked at MSM as Senior Vice-president for Business Development, leading the new media, mobile telephony and syndication divisions' integration with the company's sports and music TV channels.
Punjabi has spent more than four years at Fox Star Studious and was instrumental in the formation of this joint venture between Twentieth Century Fox and Star TV. He was responsible for business development, movie acquisitions, deal structuring, syndication and exploitation of movie rights across all media platforms. He was also involved in major films including 'Slumdog Millionaire' and 'My Name is Khan'.
An MBA in Marketing from K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and a Bachelor of Engineering from Sardar Patel College of Engineering, Punjabi started his professional journey in 2000. He cut his teeth in strategic planning, marketing and advertising sales through his tenures at Fame India, Fashion TV India and Zee Telefilms, respectively.
