India TV honoured the bravehearts of the nation with the second edition of 'Salaam India Awards' with even greater passion and perseverance. The awards were presented at a ceremony in New Delhi on Sunday, September 21.

The ceremony was presided over by Chief Guest Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister. Also present were Ravishankar Prasad, Salaman Khurshid, Gen. (Retd.) VK Singh, Kalraj Mishra, Janardan Dwivedi, Maulana Mahmood Madani, Ram Gopal Yadav, Amar Singh, Kiran Bedi, Col. (Retd.) Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Kishore Chhabria, noted ghazal singer Gulam Ali, Manoj Tiwari, Dr Naresh Trehan, to name a few.

It was a perfect blend of courage, emotions, selflessness and glory, brought alive on the stage. Fitting the ceremony were the touching performances by Ability Unlimited, a dance troupe comprising differently-abled dancers and by sand artist Nitish Bharti who took those present at the ceremony to a completely different level.

The selection of the final 14 bravehearts was done by a high-powered jury that comprised India TV Chaiman & Editor-in-Chief Rajat Sharma, Former IPS Kiran Bedi, former Army Chief, Gen (Retd.) Deepak Kapoor, and Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore, former Olympian & MP. The jury was chaired by India's former CEC, SY Quraishi.

Chief Guest Rajnath Singh said, “Salaam India Awards is a great point of reference initiative by India TV. Our society is fast transforming and needs many such initiatives. This will surely motivate all of us to rise above of our selfish motives for the larger societal good.”

Rajat Sharma, while congratulating the winners, said, “These bravehearts are the real heroes. It's an honour for all of us present here to be able to honour their heroism. It's inspiring for us all and such an opportunity will go a long way in further stimulating us all as a nation to keep humanity going.”

Salaam India awards as an initiative was started by India TV in 2013 with the objective of honouring the common people who have displayed exemplary sense of courage, valour and selflessness to safeguard others while not caring for their own lives.
