Emvies 2014: Maxus is Media Agency of the Year; HUL wins 'Client of the Year'
Maxus won 1 Grand Emvie, 9 Gold, 6 Silver and 3 Bronze Emvies. Lodestar UM bagged the second place with 1 Gold, 13 Silver and 6 Bronze Emvies

The 14th year of the Emvies, which also marks the 60th year of The Advertising Club, began with the Band Baja Competition at a grand ceremony last night in Mumbai. The drum rolls, horns and whistles reached a crescendo inside the ballroom of the Palladium Hotel packed with 1,000 people, every time a winner was declared.
Emvies 2014 had a new winner last night. The title of 'Media Agency of the Year', which was with Mindshare for the last six years, found a new custodian as Maxus was declared the winner, with 1 Grand Emvie, 9 Gold, 6 Silver and 3 Bronze, with a points tally of 230.
Some of the campaigns for which Maxus bagged Gold Emvies were Tata Tea Gold's 'Power of 49', Agency Research's 'I know which half of my advertising is waste', Tata Sky + HD 's '8PM Match Vs 8PM Traffic' and 'Making Complex Simple and Simple Magical', and Hero Moto Corp's 'Mileage Campaign'.
Kartik Sharma, Managing Director, Maxus, said, “The reason why we could make such brilliant campaigns which have been loved and appreciated is because of good insights. Yes, it was difficult to cut short Mindshare's winning spree and get the title. But I have always believed that one has to be at it, backed with tremendous hard work, and then success is bound to follow.”
Lodestar UM bagged the second place with 1 Gold, 13 Silver and 6 Bronze Emvies, adding up to 175 points. The agency won the Gold Emvie for the 'Magic of Touch campaign' for Johnson & Johnson Baby Message Oil.
Nandini Dias, CEO, Lodestar UM, said, “We do well every year and, thankfully, we did well this year too. A lot of strategy and research goes behind any good campaign and this is the formula which we followed.”
Last year's winner, Mindshare, was in the third spot with 3 Gold, 5 Silver Emvies, adding up to 95 points.
Hindustan Unilever bagged the title of 'Media Client of the Year' award, with 3 Gold, 5 Silver and 1 Bronze Emvies. Tata Global Beverages took home one Grand Emvie in the same category, with 4 Gold and 2 Silver. The points tally of both added up to 100 each.
The 'Best Case study Presentation' award for September 9 and September 11 was bagged by Mindshare for 'Jab Closeup Antakshari ne Loota UP, Bihar aur Jharkhand' and 'Kellog's Breakfast Cabs', respectively. Mediacom Communications' case study for Gillette 'Social Experiment' got the 'Best Case Study Presentation' award for September 12.
Samyak Charabarty from DDB Mudra Max bagged the Gold in the 'Young Emvie Award' for his work on 'Operation Black Dot' and 'Clean and Clear' for Johnson & Johnson'. The Silver Emvie went to Alka Bhavani from Mindshare and Vikesh Jain from Maxus.
Maxus won Gold for the 'Best Use of Bollywood Celebrity in Media' for their client Tata Global Beverages. Ibs took home two Silvers in the category 'Best Media Innovation from Media Agencies not exceeding Rs 50 crore annual billing' for Kotak Jifi (building the world's first social media bank) and Old Spice (Building a Mantastic brand online in less than 3 months).
Pratap Bose, President, Advertising Club, said, “Emvies has always occupied a special place in my heart and is considered as the premium awards in the media fraternity.”
The new Ad Club logo was also unveiled on this occasion. One of the most interesting features of this logo is that it is not static and it represents anybody associated with communication.
