Technology continues to progress every day, and with that comes newer, novel ways of marketing your product. One such innovation is the TapNXcite feature which is shortly going to be used by CyberKoms in India.

“The feature comes from the NFC or Near Field Technology that is available in most mid to high range smartphones. With this one can tap the phone to a poster and can get a video playing on his or her phone. It works sort of like the QR did. Except that here the QR code is being replaced by an invisible object,” said Deepak Gandhi, Founder & CEO, CyberKoms DGtal.

The concept of TapNXcite connects print and digital seamlessly. For example, if someone saw a poster and tapped his phone on it, his phone will automatically start showing maybe a trailer of the movie or a song or trivia.

Similarly, at a coffee shop, if someone taps her phone on the mug, her phone can show her offers at the cafe, or show up recipes, etc.

“NFC is a technology which was already available, and is popular as a marketing tool internationally. Sometimes information cannot be shown in the store. The TapNXcite feature can actually give you the extra information, or special offers, discount coupons, etc. Unlike other apps, this is built in, so you don't have to switch on the app before tapping your phone. It's much simpler and very effective,” explained Gandhi.

The benefit for marketers is also the fact that it Cyberkoms has built an anlytics dashboard as a back end tool. This helps to anayse which visitors are returning, from which geography, etc. The next step of targeting users can be done on the basis of this data provided.

Though the technology may not been used in India yet, McDonald's and Visa have benefited from it abroad.
