GEC Watch: Bigg Boss 7 Finale yields a bounty for Colors in last week of 2013

The last week of TAM 2013 was one of the best weeks of the year for Hindi general entertainment channels, delivering record viewership for channels and shows. Star Plus ended 2013 at 606 TVM becoming the first channel ever to cross the 600-TVM milestone. Colors' Bigg Boss 7 recorded the highest ever ratings for its finale episode this year. The channel touched its peak ratings on the back of Bigg Boss 7 Finale which rated 9.6 TVM. The finale alone contributed 45 GTVMS to the channel. The full week average of Bigg Boss 7 was at 6.5 TVM.
According to TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 52 (December 22 - December 28) CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus continued to dominate the weekday programming with five of its shows in the top 10. Zee TV and Colors had two slots each while SAB TV retained one slot among the top 10 weekday shows.
The weekend programming was dominated by Bigg Boss 7 finale followed by 'Comedy Night with Kapil' on Colors.
Among new shows, 'The adventures of Hatim' on Life OK opened at 3.8 TVM. Sony's new show 'Main Na Bhulungi' and 'Ek Nayi Pehchaan' rated 1.1 TVM and 1.9 TVM, respectively, in the opening week.

Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus continued to be the chart topper with 11.8 TVM this week (last week 12.2 TVM).
Jodha Akbar on Zee TV held its viewership and No. 2 position with 10.3 TVM (last week 10.1 TVM).
SAB's Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashma jumped two positions to No. 3 with a significant jump in its viewership. The show recorded an average TVT of 9.9 TVM against last week's 9.1 TVM.
Star Plus' Saathiya held No. 4 position with an average TVM of 9.7 (last week 9.3 TVM).
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus slipped two positions to No. 5. The show recorded an average viewership of 9.3 TVM (last week 9.4 TVM).
Star Plus' epic series, Mahabharat, was at No. 6. The show recorded an average TVM of 7 TVM (last week 7.7 TVM).
Pyaar Ka Dard Hai held its viewership as well as No. 7 position with 7 TVM (last week 6.6 TVM).
Balika Vadhu on Colors witnessed growth in its viewership this week again and jumped one position at No. 8 garnering 7 TVM (last week 6.2 TVM).
Bigg Boss 7 on Colors grew to an average viewership of 6.5 TVM (last week 6).
Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke on Zee TV slipped two positions at No. 10 recording 6.1 TVM (last week 6.5 TVM).
Weekend toppers
Bigg Boss 7 Finale on Colors dominated the weekend programming which garnered record viewership of 9.6 TVM contributing 45GTVMs alone for the channel.
Comedy Night with Kapil on Colors fetched 8.8 TVM this week (last week 8.8 TVM).
Sony's crime series, CID, fetched 5.4 TVM against last week's 4.7 TVM.
Dance India Dance Season 4 grew to 4.6 TVM (last week 4 TVM).
Sony's other crime show, Crime Patrol, averaged at 4.1 TVM (last week 3.8 TVM).
Life OK's latest weekend offering. Hatim, opened at 3.8 TVM.
Nach Baliye 6 on Star Plus fetched 3.7 TVM (last week 3.8 TVM).
Life OK's Shapath recorded 3.7 TVM (last week 3.1).
Boogie Woogie on Sony dropped further to 3.0 TVM in its third week (last week 3.2).
Star Plus' crime fiction, Arjun, recorded 1.8 TVM (last week 1.7 TVM).
Bh Se Bhade on Zee TV fetched 1.8 TVM (last week 1.5 TVM).
