As home to the 'Pawn Stars', History TV18 is all set to kick off Season 6 of the show starting today with all-new episodes on weekdays at 10 PM. To promote the show, the channel brought Pawn Stars' father-and-son duo Rick and Corey Harrison to India.

Rick Harrison, 48, has been in the pawn business for 28 years and is an expert when it comes to spotting anything fake or stolen. Corey Harrison, 30, began working at his father's pawn shop when he was just nine and is expertly trained in the art of appraisal. Along with their family members and friends, the father-son team run the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas, USA, and has become some of reality television's biggest stars.

The series is best known and loved for the Harrisons' hilarious on-screen antics, with clashes and camaraderie every step of the way. The family lives and breathes the pawning business, using their sharp-eyed skills to carefully assess the value of items their colourful customers bring in, objects ranging from the obscure to the truly historic.

True to their profession and love for all things historic, Rick and Corey made good use of their trip to India by visiting the Taj Mahal on the first day of their tour. The Pawn Stars will also be on the lookout for great buys as they visit some of the iconic sites of North India and sample its world famous culinary treats.

We are glad to have made it possible for Rick and Corey to meet and interact with their fans in India. Talking about the objective to bring Pawn Stars to India, Sangeetha Aiyer, VP and Head Marketing, A+E Networks|TV18, said, “One of the key things is the popularity of the show in India over the past few years; so this was a reason to give an opportunity to the pawn stars to get a feel of the Indian market. Pawn Stars is about a family-run business and such dynamics gel well with the Asian community and therefore they wanted to get a sense of how other cultures are responding to their show. When they visited India, they were embraced well by the audience. Most importantly, it gave us an opportunity to reach out to the masses.”

Keeping the popularity of Pawn Stars on social media in mind, the channel used this opportunity to get fans to interact with them directly through Google Hangout and Twitter. A Google Hangout was held on August 30, from 5 to 6 PM, followed by a Twitter Q&A, where fans met and interacted with the Pawn Stars.

Talking about the response from audiences, Aiyer said, “We promoted the first visit of Pawn Stars to India online and we got an amazing number of requests which were not just from metros. People from smaller towns were equally interested in interacting with the stars of Pawn Stars. A few people wanted their antique or valuable items to be evaluated by the Pawn Stars and one of them was shortlisted with four interesting items.”

“Beginning with Pawn Stars, we are in the process of bringing more show icons to India including Ice Road Truckers and Dynamo going forward,” Aiyer informed.
