GEC Watch: Jhalak tops weekend programming in finale week as KBC falls in 2nd week
Star Plus leads weekday programming with four shows in the top 10 followed by Zee TV with three, Colors with two and SAB TV with one show in Week 37

Week 37 of TAM 2013 was a high-action week on Hindi general entertainment channels that saw the launch of three fiction shows and two grand finale of reality shows. Besides, the week was also the second, and testing, week for KBC to see where the game show settles after a grand opening.
KBC scored 6,698 TVT on Sunday in the launch week, and 5,049 TVT on Friday and 6,027 Saturday in the second week averaging at 5,924 TVT. The game show had opened at 8,950 TVT on Friday, September 6, 2013 followed by 8,460 TVT on Saturday averaging at 8,705, thus topping the weekend programming in its opening week.
However, the grand finale of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa on Colors pushed the celebrity dance reality show at the top of weekend programming followed by its other show, Comedy Night with Kapil, at No. 2. The grand finale of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa fetched 8,822 TVT. The grand finale in the last season had fetched 5,400 TVT. Week 37 also saw the grand finale of DID Super Moms on Zee TV that fetched 6,087 TVT.
Among the new shows launched in Week 37, Khelti Hai Zindagi Aankh Micholi on Zee TV opened at an average of 2,546 TVT. The week also saw the launch of Ek Boond Ishq on Life OK at an average of 1,883 TVT. Experimenting with the Sunday morning slot didn't work again as Buddha on Zee TV had a weak opening at 1,450 TVT.
According to TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 37 (September 8 – September 14) for the CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus continued to lead weekday programming with four shows in the top 10 followed by Zee TV with three shows. Colors improved with two of its shows in the top 10 list. SAB TV's Tarak Mehta continued to be among the top 10 shows.
Weekday toppers (all data in TVT in 000's)
Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus held the top position despite losing viewership of approximately 10 per cent in Week 37. The show fetched 8,803 TVT this week (last week 9,765).
Jodha Akbar on Zee TV became second most watched fiction in weekdays despite losing a few eyeballs this week. The show registered 6,981 TVTs in week 37 (last week 7,259).
Pyaar Ka Dard Hai on Star Plus also climbed one position to No. 3. The show garnered an average TVT of 6,930 (last week 6,840).
SAB's Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashma recovered a bit this week and climbed one position to No. 4 with an average TVT of 6,816 against last week's 6,751.
Colors' Balika Vadhu made a comeback in the top 5 from last week's 9th position. The show grew to 6,278 TVTs (last week 5,912).
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus fell sharply in week 37 to No. 6 from last week's second position. The show averaged at 6,144 TVT. The show had an average TVT of 7,261 last week.
Star Plus' Saathiya held No. 7 position with an average TVT of 6,002 (last week 6,079).
Zee TV's Qubool Hai slipped two positions to No. 8 with an average TVT of 5,956 (last week 6,380).
Colors' second show in the top 10 club was Sasural Simar Ka that made a comeback in Week 37. The show fetched an average TVT of 5,533 this week (last week 4,995).
Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se on Zee TV slipped two positions to No. 10. The show recorded an average TVT of 5,047 (last week 5,946).
Weekend toppers
Colors' Jhalak Dikhhla Ja topped the weekend chart in the week of grand finale that fetched 8,822 TVT. The show averaged 7406 TVT in Week 37 (last week 7,025).
Comedy Night with Kapil on Colors was the second most watched show during the weekend with 7,215 TVT (last week 7, 983).
The grand finale of DID Super Moms on Zee TV fetched 6,087 TVT (last week 3,635).
KBC on Sony garnered an average of 5,924 TVT in the second week of its launch (last week 8705).
Sony's crime show, CID, fetched an average TVT of 5,391 (last week 5,941).
Sony's other crime show, Crime Patrol, garnered 3,739 TVT this week (last week 3,418).
Life OK's weekend offering, Shapath, fetched an average TVT of 3,410 against last week's 3,339.
Comedy Circus on Sony fetched 3,409 TVT.
Fear Files on Zee TV recorded an average TVT of 2,521 (last week 2,779).
Sony's crime show, Adalat, recorded 2,491 TVT (last week 2, 452).
Star Plus' Junior Master Chef averaged at 2,160 TVT (last week 2, 370).
Star Plus' crime fiction, Arjun, recorded 1,759 TVT (last week 2,095).
Buddha on Zee TV on Sunday 11 am slot opened at 1,450 TVT.
