The Innovation Lions is a brand-new category at this year's Cannes Lions Festival, specifically celebrating technologies and innovations themselves, rather than campaigns or communications ideas. For the first time, delegates have the unique chance to sit on the judging and watch presentations from the people behind the work, discovering more about the most innovative technology shaping the communications industry.
In total 270 ideas were submitted to the category, and 25 have now been shortlisted by the world-class jury. The teams behind each of these shortlisted pieces are presenting their idea on Saturday June 15 and Sunday June 16, 2013, and all registered delegates can join these sessions to find out more about the most exciting new technologies.
The Innovation Lions have been designed to reward technologies and innovations. Lions are awarded to such things as (but not limited to) the most innovative platforms, apps, tools, programmes, hardware, products, and radical software which allow brands and creatives to communicate with their customers in a new way, or which stand alone as significant innovations in their own right.
The Innovation Lions honour more than a campaign or communications idea. It could be SaaS (software as a service), a new mobile platform, or a revolutionary piece of software that enables a new kind of customer engagement.
