GEC Watch: Balika Vadhu continues to be chart topper in New Year

Nach Baliye adds more eyeballs in the second week of its launch to remain at the top among weekend shows in Week 1 of TAM 2013

According to TAM data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 1 (December 30, 2013 – January 5, 2013) of TAM 2013, Colors' Balika Vadhu continues to be the chart topper in the New Year while Nach Baliye 5 on Star Plus remains at the top among weekend shows. Star Plus saw four of its shows among the top 10 weekday shows followed by Colors with three shows, Zee TV with two and SAB TV with one.

Big Star Entertainment Awards aired on New Year eve fetched 5.9 TVR for the 3.5-hour telecast while Golden Petal Awards on Colors fetched 4.5 TVR for its 3-hour telecast.

Zee TV's new weekday show Housewife Hai -Sab Jaanti Hai opened at 2.8 TVR on January 7 and averaged at 2.5 TVR in the first week.

Colors' strategy to extend its three weekday shows – Sasural Simar Ka, Balika Vadhu and Madhubala – to Saturdays has clicked well and all the three shows were almost on a par with their weekday telecast. On the first Saturday of the extended telecast, Sasural Simar Ka fetched 3.0 TVR, Balika Vadhu fetched 4.4 TVR and Madhubala fetched 3.7 TVR.

Weekday show toppers

Colors' flagship show Balika Vadhu entered 2013 at the top position. The show fetched an average TVR of 4.9 (last week 5.2).

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus continues at No. 2 with an average rating of 4.5 TVR (last week 4.6).

Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus climbed two positions at No. 3 this week. It fetched an average TVR of 4.5 in Week 52 (last week 4.3).

Star Plus' fiction show Saathiya retained its No. 4 position this week with an average TVR of 4.1 (last week 4.3).

Zee TV's Sapne Suhane Ladakpan ke slipped two positions to No. 5 this week. The show recorded an average TVR of 4.1 (last week 4.4).

At No. 6, SAB's Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashma fetched an average rating of 4.0 TVR this week (last week 4.1).

Colors' Sasural Simar Ka climbed one position this week to No. 7. The show garnered an average TVR of 3.8 this week (last week 3.8).

Colors' third fiction in the top 10, Madhubala, slipped two positions to No. 8 this week with an average TVR of 3.7 (last week 4.1).

Star Plus' Pyaar Ka Dard Hai held the 9th position and averaged at 3.7 TVR this week (last week 3.7).

Zee TV's Pavitra Rishta continued to be at No. 10 and recorded an average TVR of 3.1 (last week 3.2).

Weekend toppers

In the first week of TAM 2013, Star Plus' Nach Baliye 5 continued to rule weekend programming and fetched 4.3 TVR on Saturday, January 5, 2013. The show had opened at 4.1 TVR.

Sony's crime show CID averaged 3.5 TVR (last week 3.4).

KBC on Sony saw a slight surge with an average TVR of 2.8 (last week 2.7).

Sony's other crime show, Crime Patrol, fetched 2.8 TVR this week (last week 2.9).

Fear Files on Zee TV saw a surprise jump in viewership. The show averaged at 2.4 TVR this week (last week 1.9).

Sony's Comedy Circus ke Ajoobe fetched an average rating of 2.4 TVR (last week 3.1).

Adalat on Sony fetched an average TVR of 1.8 this week (last week 2.1).

Star Plus' crime fiction Arjun has fetched 1.5 TVR (last week 1.4).

Zee TV's flagship singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa recorded an average of 0.7 TVR in Week 1 (last week 0.8).
