Star India appoints Ex-HMVL CEO Amit Chopra
Chopra will steer the group's sports strategy and report to Sanjay Gupta, COO of STAR India

STAR India, having expanded its presence in sports broadcast, has brought on board media and consumer industry professional Amit Chopra to steer the group's sports strategy. Chopra will report to Sanjay Gupta, COO of STAR India. He is expected to join in the first week of January 2013.
Chopra has rich experience in Media and FMCG domains in a career spanning 20 years. Chopra was previously CEO of Hindustan Media Ventures Ltd., where he is credited with creating a successful language publishing business for the group. Chopra had joined HT Media in 2005 where he was made Chief Executive Officer of HMVL which publishes India's third largest Hindi daily, Hindustan, on January 1, 2010.
An Engineer from IIT Kharagpur and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, Chopra spent 12 years in FMCG in Hindustan Unilever Ltd. in a variety of marketing and sales assignments before joining Hindustan Times Group.
