Mathrubhumi Group is all set to kickstart 2013 with the launch of its two new television channels – Mathrubhumi News and Kappa – which are scheduled to go on-air in the first and second week of January, respectively. The advertising and marketing activities will be handled by Maxus, a GroupM agency.
With their current reach of about 6-7 per cent in Kerala, both the channels will showcase current affairs, news and non-news features. Kappa will include a dose of entertainment and music too. The channels aim to spread nationally, and then across the Middle East once they pick up pace.
Shreyam Kumar, Group Director, Mathrubhumi Group, said, “There are many news channels delivering similar content but we will distinguish ourselves by delivering credible content. As for competition with other channels dominating the space, we have been active from 19 years and with the launch of the channels I would say that competition is always welcome.”
The channels would be promoted through multiple mediums including outdoor, print, radio and ambient media.
