NDTV narrows loss in Q2 FY13

Reduction in y-o-y loss from Rs 22 crore to Rs 15 crore on total revenues of Rs108 crore

NDTV Group has announced the results for Q2 FY13 (ending September 30, 2012). It reported a reduction in loss y-o-y from Rs 22 crore to Rs 15 crore. The NDTV Group reported total revenues of Rs108 crore for the quarter. Profitability of NDTV 24x7 doubled on the back of robust growth in revenues.

NDTV has successfully contained costs as the group wide cost and resource optimization exercise has begun to show results. NDTV News operations (standalone) has reported a reduction in costs over same quarter last year and over the previous quarter.

NDTV Good Times, the flagship channel of NDTV Lifestyle, continued to be the leading lifestyle channel in India.

NDTV has firmly established itself as the leader in apps in India. NDTV Play was launched in October exclusively with Windows 8 for video consumption. NDTV Play allows for ‘simultaneous live streams’ from all four NDTV channels. Users can create their own rundowns with any of the NDTV videos. In addition, older episodes of all programmes are available.

Among other apps are New Cooks app launched on iPhone and Android platforms, and Art of Living app on iPhone platform.

Revenue of NDTV Convergence, which operates the Internet and mobile business of the group, grew by more than 60 per cent over the same quarter last year.

The group has said that the sale of MetroNation Chennai was successfully concluded.
