Groupon Inc., the global leader in group buying with a presence in 48 countries and a subscriber base of over 200 million, recently announced the rebranding of its India business from Crazeal to Groupon India. This move comes nearly a year after the company's entry into India, during which consumers across 78 cities benefited from the deals made available.
Commenting on the development, Ankur Warikoo, CEO, Groupon India, said, “We have always been Groupon. When we launched in India, we found that we had a namesake. So we coined the name Crazeal and launched it as the India arm of Groupon Inc. A year later, we are celebrating our first anniversary and are delighted to announce that we are now legally Groupon India. With this new identity comes a great advantage and a newly ignited passion to raise the bar and to beat ourselves at our own game.”
Kal Raman, COO, Groupon Inc., said, “We are proud to see the way Groupon India has grown over the last year to become the country's leading deals site. The new brand will continue to operate along our global philosophy to work and build relationship with the best merchants; and offer the best deal structure to customers.”
Another highlight of Groupon India's first anniversary is the launch of a Merchant Centre in India. This robust technology provides merchants with a platform to track and evaluate their performance in real time. This marks yet another milestone in the company's growth trajectory while setting unmatched global standards for the Indian e-commerce industry.
Over the past year, the company has embarked upon a vigorous growth strategy, scaling up its presence across India, growing its customer base and partnering with quality merchants. A combination of these factors has enabled Groupon India to provide consumers with innovative daily deals that are hard to resist.
