Paritosh Joshi, CEO of STAR CJ, the joint venture between Star India and South Korea-based CJO Shopping, has put in his papers. Confirming the development to BestMediaInfo, he said that April 23 was his last day at the organisation.
Joshi now plans to start his own venture, the details of which he did not share. However, he said, “I have learnt two things in my 27-year-long career: Media and Entertainment, and e-commerce. Hence, the venture would be in either of these two verticals.”
Joshi has been a part of Star since 2005 when he was appointed revenue management head at Star India and was reporting directly to Samir Nair, then-president of advertising, sales and distribution, Star India.
Meanwhile, Star CJ has not announced any replacement. A decision is expected to be announced this week.
Joshi has more than two decades of experience in sales, marketing and general management in companies like ITC, Procter & Gamble, Business Standard, Maharaja and Quest. He is an alumnus of IIM, Ahmedabad.
Joshi, who has played a key role in readership issues, will continue to be a member of the board of governors of the Media Research Users Council (MRUC). He heads the IRS technical committee at MRUC and is also Director, Indian Broadcasting Foundation.
