publive-imageIntel MTV Sound Trippin partnered by Woodland is a unique way to acquaint with the quintessential India, its quaint locations, interesting stories, beautiful art forms and quirky but endearing characters. The show an original format home grown, conceptualized and owned by MTV, is about Sneha venturing boldly into the lesser-known India, backpack and recorder in tow, in relentless pursuit of authentic sound. Why sound? Because nothing captures the essence of a location of a community better than its local sounds. A show that will engage and take you trippin on the sights and sounds of India, on a 'Journey from Sound to Song' – Intel MTV Sound Tripping partnered by Woodland will premiere on 14th APRIL 2012, Saturday @8.30 p.m. exclusively on MTV.

On the show, Sneha traverses through the lesser known territories of India, ranging from the north, to the far-east, to places down south. Some of the places explored on the show are locales of Punjab, Kanpur, Varanasi, Karanataka, Goa, Assam and few others, covering the length and breadth of the country carrying its essence through sound and the idiosyncrasies in the culture and music of that place.

Sneha Khanwalkar, who is excited to lead the show explains, “I am a sound and vocal freak and I am ecstatic to be part of something different and create sound and transform it to music. MTV is synonymous with innovation with music and I am hoping the audience will enjoy our experiment and this trippin sound ride.”

Intel MTV Sound Tripping partnered by Woodland will showcase Punjab's Kila Raipur, for the 76th Rural Olympics.  A 3 day rural sports festival that's grown over seven decades where competitors from around the globe participate in the adrenaline-pimping races involving bullocks, camels, dogs, mules and other animals. The place provided sounds of all sorts and much more as Sneha also met the rustic vocals of the Noora sisters, Jyoti and Sultana. The sisters from a dynasty of talented singers have worked with Sneha during the composition of the song Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye.  Sneha then travels from the rural heartland, it's fantastic colours and sounds to the other extreme – a cricket gear factory at Jalandhar, where she find music in the unique sounds.

Intel MTV Sound Tripping partnered by Woodland will also head to Yellapur in Karnataka where the Siddis of Karnataka who are of African decent, have made India their home for the last 400 years. The quest for collecting sound and music then took the Sound Trippin crew to Kanpur where Sneha captured the thumping sound of a Rampat Harami, the renowned “Nautanki” singer and the colour and noise of Holi. The next stop was the land of kabirs, sadhus and worship – Varanasi (Benaras). Sneha focused to capture the sounds from the 'artis' 'pooja' and 'bells of the temple' along with devotes who pray at the Ganga and whatever can be sonically captured on and around the legendary ghaats.

It was then the land of sun, sand and beaches – Goa! But the agenda was to capture what the tourists 'have to sing' for Goa. The authentic Goan folk singers, the sound of the coconut shells being dried by the shore. She then headed to the far east of Maujli, an island place in the northeast of India where Sneha collects the site and sounds of a serene and tranquil surrounding and the importance of Brahmaputra river.

On the introduction of the show, Aditya Swamy, EVP & Business Head, MTV India explains, “Music experiments excite us at MTV. This time it is about exploring a new way of making music. And this really is a reflection of how young people look at every situation in their lives. Innovate and Inspire. Watch a journey which shows you that there is music everywhere, all you have to do is listen.”

On their association with MTV Sound Trippin, Sandeep Aurora, Director of Marketing, Intel South Asia elaborates, “It feels great to be associated with MTV once again and we're especially excited about the show Sound Trippin because we believe that technology should be one's booster rocket and partner in creative crime. The concept of the show is fresh and the never been explored before. We are excited that Sneha will be using an ultra sleek, Ultrabook™ inspired by Intel as a part of her interesting journey in capturing the true sounds of India.”

Intel MTV Sound Tripping partnered by Woodland is also planning to make the most out of the digital space available. The aim of the campaign is to use the social media platform effectively to engage the audience and to give out interactive data. The digital plan spreads across the pre-launch and post-launch period. It involves a number of apps which promotes Sneha's work as a contemporary music director.
