DLF IPL 5 opens at 6 TVR

The opening ceremony which held one day before the tournament, could fetch only 1.3 TVR on TAM people meter

Season 5 of DLF IPL kicked off in a different style this year with a separate opening ceremony organised a day before the first match, but ended up poorer compared with the ratings achieved in Season 4.

While the opening ceremony, which faced much criticism for its quality,  fetched only 1.3 TVR on TAM people meters, the first match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings fared well recording 6 TVR.

In comparison, the opening ceremony last year had generated 3 TVR while the opening game between CSK and KKR got a staggering rating of 7.14 TRP for all India CS 4+ audience.

The opening match of IPL 3 had recorded 5.9 TVRs.

According to the data released by TAM Sports for CS 4+ all India, first 6 matches of IPL 5 have averaged 3.76 TVRs which is lowest in tournament's 5 years. Also, first 6 matches of IPL 5 reached 90.1mn viewers, which is lower than 101.7 mn viewers in IPL 4.
