The broadsheet will be launched in May this year. The title is yet to be disclosed as it is awaiting clearance
Ananya Saha | Delhi | February 22, 2012
Delhi, which recently saw the much-talked-about exit of Mid Day, is gearing up for the launch of yet another broadsheet. While the name of the publication is yet to be announced, Durbar Ganguly, formerly of The Pioneer Group, is the promoter of the broadsheet.
Ganguly resigned from his position as Vice-Chairman and Joint Managing Director of The Pioneer Group, and as Director of CMYK Printech, publishers of The Pioneer, in September 11, 2011.
Confirming the news to BestMediaInfo, Ganguly said, “Yes, we are putting the team together. Everything is at the planning stage currently, and we are waiting for clearances for the name of the broadsheet. It will be launched around May this year.” The positioning of the paper will also be revealed in due course, he added.
Deep Halder, former Resident Editor of Mid Day, Delhi, will be taking the charge as Executive Editor of the new paper.
Halder said, “We are a soon-to-be-launched English language newspaper from Delhi. And we want a dream team that will make it 'unputdownable' from Day One.”
He said that he would be in a position to share more details soon. Watch this space for more.
