publive-imageIn a sudden development, Rohit Saran, who is Executive Editor of The Economic Times, the largest financial newspaper in the country, has put in his papers. His last day at ET is December 31, 2011. He had joined the daily in July 2010. It is learnt that Saran plans to start his own entrepreneurial venture.

Prior to that, Saran was Editor of Business Today, the business magazine of the India Today Group, from July 2008 to June 2010. He took over from Sanjoy Narayan who moved out after nine years at the magazine to become Editor-in-Chief of Hindustan Times.

Saran joined ET to specifically launch 'ET Wealth', a personal wealth and financial advisory tabloid that comes out as a separate priced product of the flagship financial paper every Monday. He also held charge for sometime of 'The Sunday Economic Times'.

Subsequently, Saran was elevated as Executive Editor, reporting to Rahul Joshi, Editorial Diretor, ET.
