The second edition of the Yahoo! Big Idea Chair awards took place at a power-packed evening in Delhi yesterday. While there were a total of 19 winners across nine categories, the much sought after Yahoo! Big Idea Chair Award went to OgilvyOne Worldwide for its Fox Crime campaign 'Photography Case'.

Among the other winners, Tribal DDB India won two Gold awards for Best Use of Display Advertising and Best Use of Technology for its 'This banner with a mission' campaign created for Star TV.

Contract Advertising won Gold for Best Online Video Advertising for its 'Rakshabandhan' campaign for Cadbury Celebrations while OgilvyOne Worldwide bagged the Gold for Best Use of Social Media for 'The Zoozoo World' campaign created for Vodafone Essar.

Maxus India won the Gold for Best Use of Search award for its Buzz Metrics TV, print and search campaign.

Elated on the win, Piyush Pandey, Executive Chairman, Ogilvy & Mather India and Creative Director, South Asia, said, “We are proud to have won the coveted Yahoo! Big Idea Chair Award, widely regarded as a benchmark recognition in the world of digital advertising. Early this year, I had on behalf of Ogilvy committed to excellence in the digital space, and the young Ogilvy team has given us a great start in a long journey. Long live digital!”

The winners were selected from among 284 entries by 57 agencies, covering 90 brands.

This year, the Yahoo! Big Chair Award was judged by a panel comprising eight members including Agnello Dias, Co-founder, Taproot India; Nitin Mathur, Senior Director-Marketing, Yahoo! India, and Karl Gomes, Co-founder, Agency Digi. The process was validated by Ernst & Young.

Arun Tadanki, Managing Director, Yahoo! India, said, “Yahoo! Big Idea Chair celebrates the growth of the digital media industry which today offers one of the widest creative canvasses to brand marketers to execute cutting edge campaigns. The entries this year clearly demonstrated deep integration of digital in the campaign planning stage of different brands and a definite step forward in the evolution of digital media.”

The  award ceremony was preceded by a panel discussion on 'Taking the digital leap', which included panellists like Abhijeet Awasthi, National Creative Director, Ogilvy; CVL Srinivas, MD, Starcom Mediavest Group; Mohit Gupta, CMO, MakeMy Trip; Nitin Mathur, Senior Director-Marketing, Yahoo! India and Amit Tiwari, Country Head, Philips.

The session raised some of the interesting points like how clients are looking at the role of digital for their brands. Though being a tricky situation, the audience is smart enough to accept it, most of the panelists felt. Also, implicit personalisation is happening on the digital front, with emphasis on social discovery of content. The panelists felt that this medium enabled better measurement of engagement which is paving the way for brighter ideas in the space.
