The function commenced with a performance by two-time Grammy award winner Robin Hogarth and Indian classical vocalist Padamshree Sumitra Guha. It was a fusion of traditional African and Indian classical music. Adding glitter to the function was well-known Sufi singer Kailash Kher, who enthralled the audience.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to MD Mallya, Chairman & Managing Director, Bank of Baroda. Prof VN Rajasekhran Pillai was awarded a Special Recognition Award for showing excellence in the education sector.

Speaking about the awards, Jaideep Dhagat, Senior General Manager and Business Head, Dainik Bhaskar Group, said, “This year we received 111 entries, which is 35 per cent more than in 2010. This year the award has expanded its scope by adding two new categories, 'Social Change Agent' and 'Impact Creators'.  The 'Social Change Agent' award is for an individual or organisation that has done distinguished work for the welfare of society, while 'Impact Creators' is specific to civil servants who have shown exemplary initiative to make an impact which is iconic in nature.”

He added, “Among central PSUs, the awards were distributed in 14 categories. Two PSUs were conferred with the special jury award for contribution to society. In the social change agent category, five awards were given and an equal number of awards given in the 'Impact Creator - Civil Servant' category.”

A total of 33 awards were given. Dhagat extended special thanks to the Title Sponsor, SKNL, who have supported the awards right from its inception in 2009. He also thanked the Principal Associate Sponsor, Adani Group, and Associate Sponsor Videocon for supporting the initiative.
