publive-imageIf Anna Hazare became the voice of the masses, the Hindi news channels were the biggest beneficiaries as their genre share touched more than double. Unlike English news channels, Hindi channels did not emphasise much on the details of the movement and played well with the visuals of the masses participating in the movement across the country.

The second and final week of the Anna movement saw a further surge in TRPs and the pecking order as well. Star News surpassed the movement's first week leader Aaj Tak to become the No.1 choice of the Hindi-speaking viewers while IBN7 remained at No. 3. Also, there was a close fight for the No. 4 position between India TV and Zee News, and it finally went to India TV by a margin of just 0.2 per cent.

The TAM data released for Week 35 of 2011 shows that Aaj Tak and Star News had more or less similar number of programmes in different TGs and markets while Zee News remained at No. 3.
