IRS Q1 2011: Top 10 dailies in Uttaranchal

According to Average Issue Readership, 4 out of top 5 dailies in the state register growth in the first quarter of IRS 2011.

publive-imageAs the distant leader in the state, Amar Ujala has registered 4% of growth in the first quarter of IRS Q1 2011. Its current AIR stands at 8.42 lakh as compared to 8.1 lakh in the previous quarter and 8.49 lakh in IRS Q1 2010. Thus the daily has been able to hold its readers over the last year.

Similarly, the No.2 daily of the state Dainik Jagran has registered a marginal growth in its readership in the current survey. Jagran has recorded an AIR of 5.78 lakh in IRS Q1 2011 as compared to 5.68 lakh in the previous quarter and 6.2 lakh in IRS Q1 2010.

Hindustan, the Hindi daily from HT Media has maintained its growth rate in this quarter also. The daily has an AIR of 2.89 lakh as compared to 2.51 lakh in the previous quarter and 1.85 lakh in IRS Q1 2010. Thus Hindustan has grown by 58% over the past one year in the state.

publive-imageAt no. 4 position is nation's largest read English daily The Times of India with 79,000 readers. The paper had an AIR of 83,000 in Q4 2010 and 88,000 in Q1 2010.

English Daily Hindustan Times has jumped up one position to take the 5th spot in the state and recorded an AIR of 39,000 as compared to 31,000 in the previous quarter and 23,000 in IRS Q1 2010.

HT is closely followed by Rashtriya Sahara with 36,000 readers in the current survey. Sahara had an AIR of 41,000 in Q4 2010 and 42,000 in Q1 2010.

At No.7 is Amar Ujala Compact with 19,000 readers.  The paper has lost 7,000 readers in the current survey.

I Next is at no. 8 position in the state with 17,000 readers. The paper has lost 1000 readers over the past one year.

Punjab Kesri and The Economic Times hold No.9 and 10 position with 9,000 and 6,000 readers respectively.
