Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific (DNAP) today announced the appointment of Arun Thapar as vice president, programming â India. Thapar will be responsible for the overall planning, developing, and execution of programming strategies for DNAPâs six brands in India â Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Discovery Science, Discovery Turbo and Discovery HD World.Â He will be based in New Delhi, reporting to Rahul Johri, DNAPâs senior vice president and general managerâ India.
In this new role, Thapar will also manage and lead all aspects of programming functions, including sourcing, on-air promotions, scheduling, and languaging for the networksâ portfolio of brands in India, and will supervise the local programming team.
Announcing the appointment, Johri said, âArunâs proven track record makes him an excellent addition to the DNAP team. I'm confident that under his leadership, we will continue to bring the highest quality content to our viewers in India and strategically grow our brands.â
Prior to joining DNAP, Thapar was the vice president of programming at NDTV Lifestyle and was responsible for all aspects of programming including development, original production, directing and producing programmes across variety of genres including news, sports, political satire, comedy and travel.
Thapar is a postgraduate in History from Jawahar Lal Nehru University, Delhi.
