publive-imageDainik Bhaskar Group's Bhaskar Woman of the Year, a recognition of women achievers, starts with 2nd inning, coinciding with the 100th year of woman day on 8th March 2011. The award recognizes the true potential of women who have achieved extraordinary success in the face of constraints. The programme which covered 5 states last year has been expanded to cover 8 states including Jharkhand, the recent addition in Bhaskar reach. This now covers Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Gujarat and Jharkhand, which are divided into 20 prime regional zones.

Bhaskar Woman of the Year recognizes achievers in four categories; Family, Socio-cultural, Art and Culture and Professional. The potential winner needs to submit a nomination with details of her achievement and the same will be screened by and reviewed by an eminent jury at the zone level. A separate Zonal choice candidate is also identified with public voting. All these Zone winners compete at the State Level where the State Jury selects the final set of winners.

Elaborating on the rationale behind these awards, Jayent Mishra, Head Activations, Dainik Bhaskar Group said, “Dainik Bhaskar Group aims to recognize the unsung stories of women. Women are an integral part of the Indian social fabric. Yet there are very few examples where there achievements are recognized. This unique award recognizes them and their efforts, the will and the spirit of such women, who have changed lives to leave indelible mark on the society at micro or macro level.”
