BBC Hindi Gets Second Life

Hindi programming to continue for one more year. BBC Hindi will be on air every evening but only for one hour.

The week started with really good news for millions of BBC Hindi listeners. The BBC on Monday announced that it will continue with its Hindi programming for one more year but only for one hour every evening.

On 26^th January BBC announced that its Hindi service will be discontinued from April 1 as they don't have enough funds to run it.

But after seeing the response from their loyal listeners, the BBC Worldwide has decided to continue one hour of daily programming in evening.

BBC worldwide is exploring various ways like tying up with commercial institutions to get enough funds to run BBC Hindi. Till that time they'll continue to broadcast their special one hour programme Din Bhar at 7:30 PM.

With all this, BBC Worldwide has also announced that if they are not able find any commercial funding in financial year 2011/12, then next year, they'll completely shut the Hindi programming.
