Colors Inches Closer To No.1; Star Plus Below 300 GRPs
Reduces the gap to a mere 16 GRPs; eats the pie from Zee TV, Sony, SAB and Imagine TV in TAM week 8.

The ICC Cricket World Cup has just kicked off and it will certainly affect the GECs pie with every passing day. But the TAM data released for week 8, (from 13th February, 2011 to 19th February, 2011) has not been exciting for Hindi general entertainment channels except Colors. Hence, if the World Cup viewership trend emerges as per the predictions, there is hardly any chance left for the GECs to improve their numbers in next 5 weeks.
According to the TAM data released for week 8, the No.1 Hindi general entertainment channel Star Plus has lost a few GRPs again to come down at 299 as compared to 318 GRPs in last week. After the re-branding of the channel in July 2010, this is the first time when the channel has garnered the GRPs below 300.
Seemingly eating the pie from all the channels, the second most watched Hindi GEC Colors is inching closer to No.1 position. The channel has added 45 GRPs this week to reduce the gap with Star Plus. It has garnered 283 GRPs this week (last week 238).
The number 3 GEC Zee TV has recorded 210 GRPs this week (last week 219).
After a huge jump in last week due to Filmfare Awards, Sony Entertainment Television has lost 37 GRPs this week and garnered a total of 143 GRPs (last week 180).
Even if Sony goes below 150 GRPs, SAB TV remains at No.5 with 134 GRPs in 8th week of TAM. SAB had recorded more than 150 GRPs for last two consecutive weeks.
A question mark over the discrepancies in the TAM data has not helped Imagine TV and its numbers have further gone down. TAM peoplemeters have generated 75 GRPs for Imagine TV in this week (last week 86).
Star One has garnered 40 GRPs (last week 41) while Sahara One is at 31 GRPs (last week 27).
