India’s largest telecom operator Bharti Airtel has started its re-branding process which includes the unveiling of an all new refreshing logo. The new logo has been spotted on some hoardings in Mumbai. The company will officially unveil its new brand identity next week on Tuesday, 23rd November, 2010.

To mark the new logo of the largest telecom brand, a mega campaign worth Rs.300 crore has been conceptualized by its creative and communication partner JWT.

The new look of the brand has a swoosh locked with the word Airtel. The way Airtel is written has been changed and the new logo does not carry a capital 'A'. The company has kept the red colour dominant in the new brand.

Since Airtel is going global with the acquisition of Zain Telecom of Africa, Airtel felt the need to change its logo. The new logo seems to have taken inspiration from none other than Zain Telecom’s logo if we consider the circular design above the text of the brand.

The new brand is expected to be splashed all across India, Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Seychelles. Earlier, the company had already said that Zain will be re-branded as Airtel, but, this will be part of a bigger brand to give a fresh image to Airtel.

The brand makeover is done to give Airtel a more youthful look as it gets more global in it's approach. This will be yet another evolution of the strong brand Airtel, earlier the company had merged all the segmental brands into Airtel once it appealed to the customers.
