He is awake 24*7!! (Virtually although!) Meet Anurag Gupta, MD, DGM India who perhaps proudly boasts the crown of launching something called ‘affiliate marketing’ on the Indian soils. When all the marketing pundits were slogging about the effectiveness of online medium for promotion of their brands, this 42 year old wizard with its deep penchant for the online space stunned everyone with his impoundable measurement tools for online performance advertising.

Currently spearheading the Indian division of UK's large online performance marketing company named-www.adhplc.com, Anurag with his entrepreneurial bent and his ability to work in unstructured environment, has made DGM India to become a profitable entity within just seven months of its launch.

A cliché MBA degree holder from IIM Ahmedabad in 1989, Anurag hosts a rich pool of experience on his table. He has a total experience of more than 21 years out of which 10 years has been in the Internet space. Although his credentials span across diverse fields, including marketing and sales, his love for the online medium remains unparallel. As Anurag gushes effervescently, “ I love being in the digital space, it is one industry where nothing stays constant and the change of pace is so furious that you need to keep running all the time if you want to be in step with the industry. Coupled this with the fact that it is still an emerging industry, where every day the existing paradigms are challenged and new ones built makes for a heady cocktail mix for an entrepreneur like me.”

Interestingly his connection with the online domain goes far in the history and has rather got stronger over time. As before joining DGM India, Anurag had an impressive stint with one of India’s largest Internet entity – Indiatimes.com where he was instrumental in creating and heading the “Subscriptions” business. And the challenge at hand at indiatimes.com was also not less humongous as establishing DGM India. As over there, he had to face the herculean task of carving the subscriptions business out of nothing- with a zero base and minimal sources. But within a short span of time Anurag managed to create a business that was run rating more than a million dollar annually, till he joined the online marketing agency- connecturf as Executive Vice President – North in 2006. At Connecturf Anurag completely rebooted the operations of the Company in North India and built an effective team that started generating business from the Delhi market for the Company.

Now looking back, even after having a huge trail of achievements in his career Anurag feels spirited about his future goals. As he avers, “I see myself someday in a fully entrepreneurial mode. Don’t know when would it happen but I am still waiting for it”.
