Zee5, the digital entertainment platform for language content from ZEEL, will be launching over 90 web-series under the head Zee5 Originals across six languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Bengali.

Spearheaded by Amit Goenka, CEO, Zee International and Z5 Global, Zee5 Originals look like an expensive affair considering the star cast and production quality of the shows. However, the platform’s plan for revenues on the content is subscription to the entire library of content at the launch offer price of Rs 99 per month. The monthly pack price will be later revised to Rs 150.

The paid section of the app, where this content will reside, is an ad-free section. Every month, the OTT platform will launch one new web series in each of the aforementioned languages, and one new short film.

“With the launch of Zee5 Originals, we are set to take the reach of Zee5 to the next level with an unparalleled depth of content offerings,” said Goenka. “Using our expertise as a global content company, Zee5 Originals will feature a library of exclusive content which is relatable, understated, bold, progressive and layered making for an immersive experience keeping our core target engaged and stimulating their entertainment appetite in a language of their choice.”

Outlining the OTT platform’s long-term vision, Archana Anand, Digital Head, Zee5 India, said, “The OTT audience in India prefers to consume on-the-go content which is also downloadable and accessible offline. Keeping this in mind, we have designed a robust content line-up, through Zee5 Originals, across deeply invigorating genres which is introspective and creates a rich linguistic experience.”

The platform will launch 20 shows in the month of April 2018, including one reality show, Badshah’s music show ‘Lockdown’.
